This club is a place where creativity comes to life through the rhythmic clatter of looms.
With around 40 members, they work together to create all kinds of beautiful woven pieces, from practical everyday items to unique decorative works.
Inside this renovated 1870 school building, you will find 48 looms arranged in neat rows.
Each loom has two sheets of paper hanging from it — one with the design pattern, and another for recording the name of the person weaving and the amount of work they have done.
A single piece of fabric is often the result of several people’s contributions. How wonderful is that?
Club members are free to come in at any time and weave as much as they like, following the design on the loom.
Another amazing thing is that the yarn they use is made from recycled materials — often old bed sheets cut into strips. This way, we create something new while giving new life to something that might otherwise be discarded.
In an age where it is said that everyone owns enough clothes to last seven generations, the act of reusing and valuing materials feels truly precious.
With these looms, members create shawls, placemats, wall hangings, table runners, mats, and more.
The club meets every Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. If you are interested, please feel free to visit at that time.
The pieces made here are also available for purchase.
If you would like to try weaving yourself, you can apply through the trial course offered at Vuxenskolan älmhult.
